Chalong/Rawai is located on the Southeastern side of Phuket.
Still mostly a fishing village there is a good stretch of
beach however the water is deep and muddy in that area making
it unsuitable for swimming or water sports.
Chalong Rawai is Phuket's largest bay and having deep water
just off shore this is where the main pier and departure point
for public and charter boats going to the islands is located.
A quiet, sleepy village with some delicious traditional restaurants
selling good freshly grilled seafood that can be enjoyed under
the huts or on mats under the trees on the beach. Whilst here
are a few local bars and shops in the area Kata is just a
couple minutes away by car or motorcycle.
